This is indeed a very remarkable piece of work, quite unique in Bangla, I would Say. The surreal nature of the stories, often in a grotesque environment, often in a Franz Kafka type backdrop, is immensely enjoyable. His style is brilliant and I thoroughly enjoyed reading most of it. The last story however is bit Satyajit Ray type, and the theme is quite known to the Bangla readers of occult.

মুরাদুল ইসলাম নামের ২৭ বছর বয়সী এক যুবক সিলেটে বাস করেন (সারা জীবনে তিনি ঢাকায় এসেছেন মাত্র একবার)। তিনি নানা বিষয়ে লেখেন, গল্প লেখেন, উপন্যাসও লেখেন। তাঁর গল্প আপনারা হজম করতে পারবেন না (পাল্প ফিকশনের পাঠকগণ)। তবে তাঁর উপন্যাস পড়ার চেষ্টা করে দেখতে পারেন। তিনি থ্রিলার উপন্যাস লেখেন, কিন্তু এমন দাবি করেন না যে তিনি সাহিত্য সৃষ্টি করছেন।

মুরাদুল ইসলামের গল্পের বই “এখানে জাদু শেখানো হয়”। এই বইয়ের একটা গল্প মসলিন চাষি। আমার নিজস্ব ধারণা, বাংলা গল্পের এই সময়টা ভবিষ্যতে মুরাদুলের সময় হিসেবে চিহ্নিত হবে।

The squirrels came to my abode a couple of days ago and the thin volume seems to be a storehouse of surprises. I read more than 4 stories out of 10 and they are by no means ordinary that you may read and forget. I won't call them superb creations that transcend time and space, but the style is unique to say the least and the facts touch upon the surrealism of Joy Goswami in places if not the weird singing style of Kumar Gandharb or Prabhakar Karekar, very much liked by some, and very much unliked by many others.
